A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week for a new three-story STEM Center at Ransom Everglades School.
Designed by the Miami office of Perkins+Will, the new building will offer 10 flexible classrooms, fabrication and maker labs, a rooftop outdoor lab, solar technology, a reconfigurable multi-purpose conference and auditorium space with space 200 people, along with a variety of informal learning spaces.
More than five dozen mature trees were relocated into a temporary tree garden in preparation for construction, to ensure preservation of each tree’s canopy. Many will be returned once construction is complete.
Completion is scheduled for early 2020
