The 21-story CitizenM Hotel is now rising in Brickell.

Vertical construction could be seen getting underway for the first time this week for the first time.

The hotel is being built on the former Perricone’s Italian Marketplace next to Mary Brickell Village, which was demolished. Multiple trees were also removed to make way for the project.

CitizenM will include 252 lodging units, with ultra-small hotel rooms that start at just 157 square feet.

At the ground floor will be 4,174 square feet of commercial space, likely a restaurant. No parking garage is being built.

It is one of three CitizenM hotels in the planning phase in Miami, including one now in permitting at Worldcenter and another next to Lincoln Road in South Beach.
